Gamepedia is the brainchild of Joshua Daily. The very basic idea started back in 2002 when I got the random thought that it would be cool to have a site that you could search for a specific item/skill/weapon/etc. from a video game and find the info/data for what your looking for.

As time went on, I made no progress on fleshing out my idea and it just stayed a dormant thought in the back of my mind. Then around 2008, the idea came back full force and I started to find a way to make it a reality. After searching a bit on the internet, I found that my idea was pretty much my own and there was no other site like it. So then I started to explain my idea to my friend Timmy B. and he seemed pretty interested in the idea too. So we started to compile data from a few games, but never really made much headway. Also, my personal access to a computer was on a 'barely there' status and that made it difficult to make a website.

Then, in 2009, I moved into an apartment with my girlfriend Marlene and she had a PC. So, taking advantage of that, I started to comb through all the games I had and gather data from the manuals that were provided. After taking a month or so to compile all that data, I started to look up ways to make a website. I used adobe photoshop to make a general layout for my site and I was going to have my friend Timmy B. do the HTML coding for it. But upon realizing that the coding is going to be a pain, I found out about Mediawiki. I had some general knowledge about it before, but when I looked into it more and more, the more I liked it.

Then through some difficulties and money, I acquired the domain www.gamepedia.net and installed Mediawiki and here it is. My dream is now a reality.

I came up with the name Gamepedia in 2008. I was looking for something simple and easily to remember but not too simple that it would be easily forgotten.
